Reducing Redness

Reducing Redness

Reducing Redness

Skin redness may be due to different reasons. It could be rosacea, acne, flushing, sun damage, or just plain irritation.

But what can you do to reduce the redness? There are several things you can do to take care of your skin.

Facials & Skin Care: Dry skin can make your skin vulnerable to irritants, which worsens the problem. There are facials specifically designed to reduce redness. Choose moisturizers with phospholipids and hyaluronic acid for plumping up the skin and calming down redness. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to one thousand times its weight in water. Just think how moisturized your skin will be.

Redness Cancelling Colours: Concealers that have a yellow or green tint can cancel redness. Make sure your foundation has a yellow base to help further even out your skin tone for a flawless look.

Foods & Spices: Certain food and spices can help in reducing redness. Cucumber, ginger, licorice root extract, rose extract, turmeric and white tea extract are all excellent for fighting redness and boosting the skin’s resistance to irritation.

If you have rosacea, you already know how careful you have to be with any skincare products. So it’s no wonder rosacea sufferers shy away from facials.

Sadly, some professional treatments like chemical peels and microdermabrasion are simply too harsh for this delicate skin condition. Not so with facials!

Performed by a trained aesthetician, a facial will not aggravate or worsen the condition. Quite the opposite. Once your dermatologist has diagnosed rosacea and prescribed medication to help control symptoms, many recommend professional facials to further soothe irritation and calm redness.

And that’s exactly what a rosacea facial does. Every step is designed to cool, calm, protect and soothe. A direct benefit is a facial’s ability to rid your body of toxins, which helps your skin to function more efficiently, a real plus for calming such an unpredictable skin condition!

A rosacea facial will also enhance the effects of the skincare products you are already using. And did we mention how relaxing facials are? You have nothing to lose except irritation, redness, and inflammation.

Rosacea is maddening, and worse, scientists know so little about it. Commonly occurring in people between the ages of 30-60, fair skinned folk are more susceptible than those with darker skin.

Symptoms vary widely but typically include:

  • Persistent facial flushing or redness
  • Tiny visible blood vessels commonly called “spider veins”
  • Overly sensitive skin that stings from certain skin care and beauty products
  • Red bumps and pimples filled with pus

If this sounds like what you’ve been dealing with, it’s time to get an official diagnosis and get some relief! Your physician can prescribe medication to ease symptoms.

We offer specialized facials that help to calm and soothe your sensitive skin. For home care, we recommend a sensitive skin line, including a vitamin C serum which has anti-inflammatory properties.

Our advanced clinical treatment closes down blood vessels and capillaries in your skin, dramatically reducing redness.

That means no more constant flushing! You can enjoy spicy foods and red wine without your face lighting up.

You get back the control!

Rosacea may be a mystery, but its treatment isn’t! Under our experienced hand, you’ll love looking in the mirror.

We guarantee it!

Are You Ready To Get The Red Out? By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

You know the symptoms:

• Enlarged visible blood vessels
• Visible broken capillaries
• Raised red bumps, or acne lesions
• Dry skin that itches and flakes
• Flushing

Rosacea, in all its aggravating forms, can cause a woman to feel unattractive and embarrassed by unexpected flare ups.

We’re glad to say you don’t have to put up with flushing, broken capillaries or enlarged blood vessels any more! Intense Pulsed Light, or IPL, has changed all that.

An IPL beam hits the offending capillaries and blood vessels and shuts them down.

Kaput! No more permanently red skin. Ever. Plus, flushing is dramatically reduced. The results are truly remarkable!

Better yet, the IPL beam affects only the damaged vessels and does not injure surrounding healthy skin.

And the side benefits of this extraordinary treatment? Firmer skin, more even skin tone, brown spots fade, and sun damaged skin takes on a healthy glow.

It’s just that many more reasons to love the woman in the mirror. Ready?

Rosacea is a constant balancing act. The wrong foods, too much stress, heavy exercise, even weather changes can cause a flare up. No wonder women with rosacea are so careful about anything that touches their skin!

Medications certainly help control this aggravating disease, but rosacea symptoms also respond beautifully to specialized facials. That’s why many dermatologists recommend rosacea facials as part of a prescription for wellness.

Not only do facials calm and soothe irritated, inflamed skin, they allow you the opportunity to relax your whole body and your mind. Can you imagine anything better for you than to feel completely relaxed?

And while you’re enjoying the much needed rejuvenation, your rosacea facial is hard at work emptying out toxins that cause dullness, blemishes, blackheads, and the like.

Plus, a facial makes all of your skincare products work more effectively! There are so many benefits to a facial you simply have to experience it for yourself…and reap the benefits, too!

Why Is My Skin So Red? By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

Who doesn’t like a rosy glow? But when that glow turns red and angry, it’s time to take a second look.
There are several causes—and solutions—to calm your skin, so let’s take a look at them:

• – Irritation- Skin that is extremely dry can become red and look like a rash! We’ve worked with women who had dry, irritated skin so long they didn’t realize it was severe. Once they started using our products, which properly hydrated and lubricated their skin, they could not believe how different and comfortable it felt. Not to mention that they lost about 5 years!

• – Rosacea- Scientists still aren’t sure what causes this mysterious condition, though theories abound. Usually, cheeks, chin and nose become bright red. When active, rosacea also has pimples. Certain foods can trigger a flare up. But again, it’s very individual. Topical medications help to tame the redness, as well as laser. Good quality skin care is a must.

• – Couperose- Those small, spidery veins that creep across your cheeks, chin and nose are called couperose. They are broken capillaries and blood vessels that have become weak and broken.

Couperose is often the result of heredity, but extremes in temperature and over-exfoliating are also causes. Laser can rid you of it, but there are also products designed to strengthen capillary walls and tame the redness.

A combination of clinical treatment and skincare is recommended. If you’re looking for suggestions to make your skin more comfortable and beautiful, just let us know.

That’s what we do best!

What To Do About Rosacea By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

A baffling disease, one that is not fully understood, rosacea sufferers appear to process cathelicidin, a skin protein within the skin, differently than the rest of us.

Common features include redness, flushing, and prominent blood vessels. Commonly reported environmental triggers are the sun, followed by heat, spicy foods, alcohol and stress, as well as caffeine and citric acid.

Rosacea is hard on a woman’s self-esteem! Thankfully, there are drug therapies to ease and control inflammation. But the most exciting part is the inclusion of lasers and light therapies to effectively treat the redness and flushing associated with rosacea.

Pulsed-light lasers go down one wavelength and destroy the red cells. Intense pulsed light uses lots of light to destroy some of the pigmentation as well as redness. Multiple treatments of either therapy are needed, but they produce long-lasting results.

Believe it or not, the legendary W.C. Fields, American Vaudeville entertainer, was thought to have rosacea because of his large, bulb-shaped ruddy, oily nose, another characteristic of rosacea.

The public mistakenly concluded that he was an alcoholic! Today, if you have rosacea, you do not have to live with the telltale signs of the disease. While there may not be an answer to the rosacea mystery, there are effective, long-lasting treatments, and we have them.

To find out which one is right for you, set up a consultation today!

How Intense Pulsed Light Gets Rid Of A Rudolph Face By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

Is there anything more maddening? The slightest bit of exertion, a weather change, or eating spicy foods can cause your skin to light up like Rudolph on Christmas Eve!

It’s embarrassing, down right aggravating and it’s called rosacea. We highly recommend facials to soothe, calm, cool and protect this fickle skin condition.

Rosacea facials are also excellent for strengthening capillaries, reducing redness, and to flush toxins from your system. This will help to lessen rosacea flare ups and keep your skin functioning more effectively.

And if you’re so over the flushing that is the hallmark of this mysterious disease, Intense Pulsed Light can greatly reduce or even eliminate It. Considered the gold standard for treating rosacea, Intense Pulsed Light removes the dilated capillaries and blood vessels that cause flushing.

That means you no longer have to explain the sudden deep redness to your cheeks. Heck, you don’t even have to think about it!

IPL and facials may not be able to solve the mystery of rosacea, but they can play a significant part in eliminating the obvious signs and discomfort. You’ll love what you don’t see in the mirror!

When Skin Redness Isn’t Rosacea By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

Sometimes clients will tell us they think they have rosacea because their skin is red and flushes easily. But when we take a closer look, we find another common culprit, couperose, or broken capillaries.

There are several reasons capillaries may weaken and break. Heredity is one.
Some of us were just born with naturally thin, weak skin, which of course, includes the capillary walls of your face.

Extremes in temperatures can increase the likelihood of developing couperose. With constant exposure, the skin thins, weakening capillary walls.

Another factor is aggressive over exfoliation of the skin. No, you won’t get better results if you scrub harder! You’ll just create a spidery network of broken capillaries across your beautiful face.

What can you do about couperose? We have skincare that targets this exact problem, and complementary hydrating treatments that combat redness and lock in moisture.

If you’re ready to tame your red, irritated skin, we can help get you there.

10 FAQ’s About Rosacea and Intense Pulsed Light By Laser Hair Removal Adelaide – Call Us On 08 8361 3310

1. How does IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) help my rosacea symptoms?
Intense Pulsed light uses a specialized light that closes down the blood vessels and capillaries that cause flushing, dramatically reducing redness.

2. Will the IPL affect normal healthy skin?
IPL does not have any affect on surrounding healthy skin. The light energy is absorbed by the dilated vessels and capillaries causing them to shut down.

3. How many treatments do I need?
Generally 3-6 sessions are needed. Some tiny areas close during the first treatment. Larger areas as well as skin flushing decrease gradually over 5 weeks. This is a far gentler way to treat rosacea. It’s also the reason IPL has become the preferred method.

4. Why do I need more than one treatment?
It’s impossible to equally cover and close all of the affected areas in just one treatment. That’s why sessions are scheduled approximately 5 weeks apart.

5. Is Intense Pulsed Light the same as laser?
IPL was developed from laser technology. However, laser uses a solid beam of light. IPL uses hundreds of wavelengths, or colors, in each burst of light, not just one wavelength. Filters are used that can work in a similar manner to laser, but IPL is not a traditional laser treatment.

6. What is an IPL treatment like?
They are very quick, simple, and relatively painless. You will wear protective eye shields. Then a gel will be placed on your skin. This is to increase your comfort and improve the effectiveness of the IPL treatment. During the treatment, you will feel a small snap as the flash touches your skin, but it’s tolerable. After the treatment, cold packs will be placed on your skin for comfort. Your face may look pink for an hour or so, but there will be no bruising.

7. How long do treatment sessions last?
It all depends on the area to be treated. Generally, speaking 30-90 minutes.

8. Can I return to work?
Yes. Your skin may still look a bit pink, but it will return to normal in a few hours.

9. What skincare products are best for rosacea clients?
Avoid Retin A. This is too harsh for this skin type. Vitamin C serums are soothing and have anti-inflammatory properties that are extremely helpful. All skincare products must be calming and soothing. Many dermatologists recommend facials to further minimize the symptoms of rosacea. Talk to our aesthetician about your specific needs.

10. Will I ever need more than one round of treatments?
Most likely, you will need a touch up treatment once a year to keep the rosacea to a minimum.
