Body Train Power Plate Vibration Machine

Body Train Power Plate Vibration MachineVIBRATION

Technology is advancing through sport science and exercise medicine is one of the newest creations to emerge from this growing wealth of knowledge applied to the fitness industry.

What do they do?

The Body Train  Power Plate Vibration Machine high-tech piece of equipment transmit waves of energy throughout the body, making muscle fibres contraction between 25 and 50 times per second, enhancing the co-ordination and efficiency of both muscles and nerves in the body.

The vibrations essentially create instability that forces the body to respond with multi-directional contractions as a counter balance and this type of complex reaction is what is required within everyday life. This is essentially a more powerful version of already established “stabilization” equipment, such as fit balls.

That the instability created, forces activation, (switching on), of additional nervous tissue and muscle fibres including the ‘core’ musculature. The more muscle you “switch on” the more is available to tone and burn calories.

The instability enhances the flexibility and strength of the tendons and ligaments around joints, unlike most traditional exercise, which makes people stronger and more aware of their own body, reducing the risks of injury.

A Celebrity secret shared by Elle MacPherson, Danni Minogue and Courtney Cox who say “results in a short time with little effort and every muscle in the body is ignited”.

Just 10 minutes on the vibration plate is equivalent to 60 minutes conventional exercise.

This is a real breakthrough in training and conditioning as we can now optimally “load” the human frame while minimizing high impact, high load, and high stress factors. As we can maximize involvement of the body as a whole, without necessarily going through great ranges or even any movement, it provides a powerful tool in the areas of rehabilitation and exercise prescription for those with medical conditions like arthritis, osteoporosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease.

What are the benefits?

  • Immediate improvements in blood circulation
  • Increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • Increased joint range of motions
  • Help maintain stable weight
  • Decreased cellulite
  • Increased bone mineral density
  • Reduced pain and soreness
  • Faster recovery and regeneration from injury and training, (research support includes Moezy et al (2008), that indicated enhanced recovery from anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery using vibration technology during rehabilitation)Enhanced metabolism and lymphatic flow and reductions in cortisol (which is a stress hormone)
  • Little impact on the joints and ligaments
  • Capacity for whole body massage and relaxation
  • Increases the production of collagen to encourage firmer, smoother skin
  • Helps prevent age-related muscle loss, bone density loss and skin wrinkles
  • People with medical conditions can exercise while working within their personal physical limitations

How Does It Work?

The movement of the vibration plate simulates the body’s natural stretch reflex.  This is similar to the knee jerk reaction that occurs when the knee is tapped by a reflex hammer in a doctor’s office without thinking of it.

Your body responds with a strong with a strong involuntary muscle contraction leading to your leg kicking out.  With the vibration plate technology these strong muscles contractions can be repeated at a rapid rate.  Due to the involuntary effect on muscle contraction.  Nearly 100% of the muscle fibres are used.  Compare this to a conventional training where there is only on average 40% muscle use.  This benefits the rehabilitation patient looking to add stability and strength to all muscles around their joints, to the athlete looking to maximize strength gains.

The gentle rapid contractions allow the muscle to work as a pump introducing blood to even the smallest blood vessels. This leads to the ability of the body to carry off waste products much faster.  Leading to peripheral circulation.

It is not sufficient to replace other forms of exercise and its integration into existing exercise plans should be viewed as an alternative for variation rather than a sole substitute.

The power of these machines for rehabilitation, muscle massage and relaxation are phenomenal and together with an opportunity for escapism from ‘traditional’ exercise.

There are minimal cardiovascular benefits with the Body Train power plate vibration machine and although improvements in body tone and flexibility are easily achieved, significant improvements in stamina of your heart and lungs will be limited.

It is not an all-round solution and it is wise to avoid the misunderstanding that it can replace traditional exercise. It is handy for those who want a quick workout, but the best solutions are found in combining it with other forms of exercise.

You need to start gradually by increasing the frequency slowly and make sure you stand correctly in order to optimize the benefits and ensure safe biomechanics.

It is easy to forget but make sure you drink enough water, as your muscles will be contracting 30-50 times more quickly, thereby generating a lot of internal heat and subsequently increasing the likelihood of dehydration.

Just a note of safety. You should consult a physician/exercise professional before beginning any exercise program, including one involving the use of the fitness a power plate vibration machine.

Why Exercise?

Exercise has been proven essential for good health and general health and wellbeing.  Regular exercise will:

  • Relieve tension and stress
  • Provide enjoyment and fun
  • Stimulate the mind
  • Help maintain stable weight
  • Control appetite
  • Boost self esteem
  • Improve flexibility
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Relieve insomnia.

How to Begin and End;

  • Warm up for a few minutes with gentle movements liking or swinging your arms in a circle and then the stretch the muscles you’ll use during your workout.
  • At the end of each workout you, should stretch the muscles you’ve just worked to prevent injury and cramp.

  • Please ensure no liquids near or on the machine, do not use the vibration plate while your hands are wet.
  • Do not move the vibration plate when it is running.
  • Clients with injuries please discuss with practitioner.
  • Patients with diabetes or heart problems should discuss with doctor prior to treatment.
  • Do not use vibro plate on a full stomach.
  • Please ensure you drink plenty or water before and after exercising. Do not use the vibration plate while you are eating or drinking.
  • Vibro machine cannot be used while menstruating or pregnant
  • Do not jump on the plate.
  • Only one person at a time to use the machine.
  • If you feel pain or dizziness while exercising, stop immediately and cool down.
  • At the end of your workout please stretch the muscles you have just worked to prevent injury and cramp.
  • Keep Unsupervised children away from the vibration plate at all times
  • The vibration plate should not be used by persons weighing more than 150kg
  • Wear appropriate clothing and athletic shoes when exercising: do not wear loose clothing or jewellery than may get caught in moving parts.
  • Do not use if you are recovering from an illness or injury
