Reducing Redness

Reducing Redness

Reducing Redness

Skin redness may be due to different reasons. It could be rosacea, acne, flushing, sun damage, or just plain irritation.

But what can you do to reduce the redness? There are several things you can do to take care of your skin.

Facials & Skin Care: Dry skin can make your skin vulnerable to irritants, which worsens the problem. There are facials specifically designed to reduce redness. Choose moisturizers with phospholipids and hyaluronic acid for plumping up the skin and calming down redness. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to one thousand times its weight in water. Just think how moisturized your skin will be.

Redness Cancelling Colours: Concealers that have a yellow or green tint can cancel redness. Make sure your foundation has a yellow base to help further even out your skin tone for a flawless look.

Foods & Spices: Certain food and spices can help in reducing redness. Cucumber, ginger, licorice root extract, rose extract, turmeric and white tea extract are all excellent for fighting redness and boosting the skin’s resistance to irritation.

How Does IPL Hair Removal Work?

How Does IPL Hair Removal Work?

What’s it really like to remove that pesky hair with IPL? Well, here’s the lowdown.

Before treatment, you should not wax, epilate, pluck, or bleach the area for at least 6 weeks prior to treatment. These treatments remove the hair root, and you don’t want that.

Do shave at least 1-2 days prior to your session. Shaving allows the IPL wavelengths to target the hair follicle and not waste any energy on the hair above the skin’s surface.

IPL light is absorbed by the hair pigment, effectively destroying the hair shaft. The best results with IPL are seen with dark, coarse hair and light skin tones. With this color contrast, the IPL wavelengths “see” the dark pigment and destroy it.

How can you tell if the treatment is successful? Sometimes, but not always, the hair color can become charcoal black and expand in size. Or, you may see a ring around each follicle a few minutes after the treatment.

These are all good signs that the heat was sufficient for killing the hair root. However, this is not always seen!

A cooling gel is used to make the treatment more comfortable. Sessions are generally quick. An upper lip takes just a minute, while underarms take about 5 minutes, and bikini areas take 10 minutes or so. For back, chest, and legs, it usually takes about an hour.

The really interesting part happens somewhere between 1-3 weeks after treatment. It will look like the hair is growing back! It isn’t, of course; the heat from the IPL wavelengths kill hair roots.

But those unwanted hairs remain in the skin. It’s not unusual for them to become attached to your epidermis. Then, as your epidermis renews itself, turning over new skin, the hair emerges and falls out. (We suggest a celebration.)

You can also exfoliate the area to speed up the process. Once the hair has shed, you will experience a hair free period for several weeks. When new hair grows in, it’s time for another session. For most people, that’s between 8-12 weeks.

Most clients see up to 90% permanent hair reduction in 3-5 sessions! Cost-effective and quick with only minor discomfort, IPL eliminates a lifetime of unwanted hair.

A lot of products today have so many benefits. But one of the best payback of these skincare products are anti aging boosters.

Thanks to constant research, cosmeceuticals such as alpha hydroxy acids, antioxidants, vitamins, retinoids, and peptides are now a vital part of basic skincare.

These anti aging ingredients help counteract the effects of free radicals, which can lead to premature aging and worse, skin cancer.

Vitamins such as C can prevent wrinkles and age spots. However, you have to be careful when choosing products with Vitamin C. Some do not work as well as professional preparations.

But the best part is this: without adding any more steps for you, cosmeceuticals are blended right into your moisturizer.

But which one is right for you? That will depend on your skin type and condition. To get the full benefit of these powerful anti-aging ingredients, come in for a skincare evaluation.

Trying To Look Young But Failing?

Trying To Look Young But Failing?

As we get older, we sometimes get stuck in old patterns. We stick to the same routine even though our bodies are screaming for a change.

So how can you know if you are one of these people?

Here are three telltale mistakes that signal somebody’s stuck in a flashback:

• Ring around the face make-up. Wearing the wrong shade of make-up gives you a ring under the chin and uneven skin tone. Make sure your makeup always blends flawlessly with your skin.

• The cosmetic counter look. Too much make-up is often worn to hide facial imperfections and to cover a poor self-esteem. Unfortunately, overdoing it is even worse.

• Trying to look way younger than you are. Yes, everyone nowadays is yearning to turn back the hands of time. But sporting very young fashion trends won’t bring it back. It will only draw unattractive attention to yourselves.

In wanting to look younger, go for corrective facials. Let this and other medical skincare treatments work for you.

Excuse #4: “I’ve Tried Absolutely Everything And Nothing Seems To Work”

This excuse is an interesting one for several reasons. Trying “everything” is a huge task and quite expensive!

There is so much on the market these days it’s difficult to try them all, but we get the point. You’re frustrated and tired of trying skin care products that don’t work, right?

So stop the madness!

Instead of going to home parties and letting your hostess decide what’s best for you skin, get a professional skin analysis with a trained aesthetician. We’ve spent hours learning about how skin functions. We even had to pass a state exam to practice our passion!

Hostesses for home parties don’t have that kind of training.

Forget cheap drugstore brands of skin care. These are loaded with filters that greatly reduce the minimal effectiveness of the brand. With this line of skin care you PAY for it.

Skin care from us is an INVESTMENT. Why? Because it’s loaded with quality ingredients that are very active. Drugstore brands? Not so much.

There are no junk fillers, just pure, top-of-the-line ingredients that enhance your natural beauty. And just as important, our professional products last and last.

So take action. This time make it the right action, though. Get a skin analysis with us. Save money, look younger, and feel more comfortable in your skin.

We guarantee it!

Winter Skincare Tips

Winter Skincare Tips

Winter Skincare Tips

As the cold weather sets in, the air becomes dry, making your skin crack and starved for moisture. So what can you do to protect it? Here are some tips to keep your skin humidified during winter.

1. Extra dry skin can cause keratosis pilaris, a condition that resembles chicken skin. Make sure to use lotions with salicylic acid to exfoliate dead cells around your hair follicles and reduce the appearance of bumps.

2. When washing your hands, choose a moisturizing soap-free cleanser or a hydrating antibacterial gel, then slather on lotion right away.

3. Anything that traps moisture on your skin helps lotions and creams soak in. So slip on some cotton gloves over lotion to help moisturize parched hands.

4. To soften stubborn dry patches on rough elbows and knees, a simple mixture of honey and sugar applied topically can serve as a rich, hydrating scrub and increase circulation in your skin.

5. If your arms or legs look scaly, try a 12 percent lactic acid lotion. It will moisturize your skin and exfoliate those scales away.

6. For your arms, legs, and torso, use a rich bath oil or moisturizing body cleanser that leaves a creamy film on your skin.

7. Exfoliate lightly.

8. For roughed-up feet, before bed, gently buff away calluses with a hydrating scrub or pumice stone, and apply a thick, buttery moisturizer while feet are still damp.

9. A long, hot bath or shower might seem tempting when you’ve been out in the cold, but it will strip your skin of moisture. Keep showers to no more than 10 minutes, and not more than once a day.

10. The softer your sheets and sleepwear, the better, but you needn’t invest in silk. Avoid blends of cotton and synthetic fibers, which might be irritating.

When you’re young, you don’t consider the consequences of your actions.

Being out in the sun too long, smoking, tanning beds and drinking, all cause wrinkles and premature aging. We all know this. But the youth believe they are invincible.

According to Dr. Michele Green, a dermatologist at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, you show them.

“Young people are not concerned, for the most part, with their own mortality. The idea of ‘cancer’ seems miles away and not a consequence of their actions today,” she said.

The only way they will heed the warning is by showing them the effects. Young people are much quicker to respond if they see the actual damage they themselves are creating.

If you have a son or daughter that needs to see the error of their ways, we would be happy to show them.

Aren’t Sunscreens All The Same

Aren’t Sunscreens All The Same

There are several kinds of sunscreens today. Since we all have different skin types, there are sunscreens that will cater to everyone’s needs.

But one important thing all sunscreens should have is full protection from UVA and UVB rays.

So let’s see what type would be best for you.

For those with sensitive skin, look for all natural sunscreens. They should be PABA-free, oil-free, fragrance-free and chemical-free. These sunscreens are mineral based and hypoallergenic. This also works for kids.

If you are prone to acne, use sunscreens that are light and fragrance-free so they won’t clog your pores. Look for the compounds avobenzone and oxybenzone in these products.

The best sunscreens to use for oily skin are those that are mineral and oil-free. These are usually water or gel based. They are also non-comedogenic which means they won’t clog your pores.

Now for those on the opposite side of the spectrum, the ones with dry skin should get moisturizing or hydrating creams with ingredients like glycerin and aloe. Avoid sunscreen sprays and gels with alcohol

It’s best to know your skin type so you can determine which sunscreen would be most effective for you.
